Where did it all begin?

A question we often get. The Waterford Dodgeball Club was founded in 2013 on the back of the very successful Waterford Dodgeball League. The league was founded by Colin Brett in 2010. Colin had previously played Dodgeball while travelling in Canada and he brought back his wealth of Dodgeball experience. Colin has since become known as the DodgeFather.

The Dodgefather

The league was a great success with eight teams taken part and battling it out each week to try and claim Waterford's ultimate Dodgeball prize. Like all things in Ireland, Dodgeball felt the effects of the recession, as many of its players emigrated to find work abroad and unfortunately numbers declined and the league was no more.

Original Rules

After an absence for a number of months, three former players of the Waterford Dodgeball League, Bernard Thompson, Derek English and Brian Gaule decided to create a club where dodgeball enthusiasts could come and play each week. The club has grown from strength to strength in its short existence. With that strength has come success. In April 2013, Money Shotz and The Toddlers both from Waterford won silver and bronze at the Irish Open in Belfast. One month later in May of 2013 we entered our first competition as the Waterford Dodgeball Club and returned silver medallists, just missing out on the gold as we lost the final 4-3.

Money Shots and the Toddlers

Without the great work by the Waterford Dodgeball League, the club would not exist today. We would like to thank everyone involved in the League for their time and dedication in bringing Dodgeball to Waterford, while providing us with hours of fun and competitive Dodgeball.

Thank you to Colin Brett, Liam Brett, Shane Power, Evan Shanahan, Ellen Doyle and Patrick O Brien.
